torus Ecosystems of Change

We help people reimagine contemporary systems to enable planetary long term change

A practice at the meeting of time, technology and culture.

We help institutions, foundations and educators read the moment they are standing in, what they carry, what is ending, what is already arriving, and act on horizons longer than a quarter.

Why now, why here

The future is not one. We work from pluriversal time, grounded in Amazonian and Afro diasporic cosmovisions, decolonial thought and the intelligences that western planning left out. We have carried this reading since 2013, years before spiral and ancestral time became a common language. That is the difference between borrowing the vocabulary of the moment and having built the practice underneath it.

What we offer is not a forecast. It is temporal sovereignty: frames, instruments and containers that let an organisation stop planning the century one quarter at a time, and begin acting on the horizons its mission actually lives on.

Why Torus

A torus is a loop curving through a shared center: the ancestral past feeding forward, the emerging future curving back, the present the most alive point of the field, where every other time arrives. It is the one shape whose form completes only when it moves. That motion is time, shown honestly. It is how we read change, and it is why the work is named for it.

Ways to work with Torus

  • Keynotes and lectures

Reading the spirit of a time and the politics of its horizons, for stages and leadership rooms.

  • Research and coordination

Authorial studies and European research partnerships at the intersection of technology, heritage and culture.

  • Courses and learning experiences

From Fractal to responsible AI, teaching organisations to stay in sync with the moment they are in.

  • Advisory and partnerships

Longer engagements for institutions building on horizons longer than a quarter.

  • Mentorship

One on one work through the Temporal Compass, for people navigating their own transitions.

Thirteen years, five thresholds

  1. 2013

    Reading a rupture

Business strategy inside a global holding, and the first authorial study on digital culture in a hyper connected protest: how it moved behaviour, and how it moved the building of brands.

  2. 2015

Teaching the spirit of the time

Zeitgeist becomes a subject: how to read the spirit of a time and stay in sync with it. Inside the futures communities the teaching becomes Fractal, a course built with the school Perestroika, carried across Brazilian capitals and online for more than fifty editions, with Google, Spotify, Netflix, Vice, Red Bull and many other protagonists of the Latin American market.

  3. 2019

    Entering the field

An open door in Amsterdam leads into the European consortium working on heritage, memory and technology. The company is registered in the Netherlands. Guest teaching begins at a UNESCO futures literacy workshop, in the years futures literacy is named an essential competency for the century.

  4. 2021

    Building instruments

Coordination of European research. A lab bridging technology and cultural institutions. Teaching inside a masters on design for responsible AI in climate emergency, and research on ancestral intelligences from indigenous and Afro diasporic practices.

  5. 2026

    A fourth cycle opens

Thirteen years of models, methodologies, courses and language gathered under one name. Two books in progress. Now open to new institutions and partners.

Who founded it

Torus was founded by Gustavo Nogueira de Menezes. I am from the Amazon Rainforest, now based in Barcelona. Thirteen years of authorial work on temporality, carried alongside partners across the world.
